Staff at a major TV network were left in shock when they were told the local news service would be axed immediately. These difficult yet necessary decisions ensure Nine is able to withstand external challenges, while maintaining a commitment to both the Northern Territory and Gold Coast regions” a spokesperson from Nine told INSIDE MEDIA. “Through redeployment opportunities and current vacancies, Nine has significantly reduced the number of people impacted by this decision and we are supporting those employees through this process.

” It’s understood 11 full time roles have been impacted by the decision, although its believed many of those staffers will be redeployed into other positions and three people will be made redundant. Viewers in the NT will now recieve the Queensland edition of 9NEWS seven nights a week. Sources also say the Gold Coast bulletin will be presented by a single newsreader, with Eva Milic and Paul Taylor splitting these responsibilities across the week.
