The organisers of Mirfield in Bloom say thieves should be “ashamed” of themselves after 10 colourful planters were stolen - just days after a visit from Yorkshire in Bloom judges. According to the group, the ten planters were stolen from the Blake Hall Drive area on the evening of Saturday, July 13. A further three large planters were stolen from the Sunnybank area on Monday evening (July 15).

The group said that they were “sad” about the impact the thefts had on their work to “brighten up the streets with a few flowers” and have described the incident as a “nightmare”. We are all devastated' On Facebook, Mirfield in Bloom member Anthony Haynes wrote: “Sadly between the evening of July 13 and the morning of July 14, seven Mirfield in Bloom Planters and one pot were stolen.

All the planters from the end of Bronte Way up to the junction with Church Lane. “This means that in total 10 planters have been stolen over the last two weeks. We now have to decide whether to leave the remaining planters out or take them in.

It's sad that this sort of anti-social behaviour impacts on the area brightening its streets with a few flowers.” A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “This was reported to have occurred in Blake Hall Road, Mirfield, between 10pm on July 13 and 7.30am on July 14.
