By Jimmy Chazama and Fatsani Kalonda: Nigerian afro-beat star Magixx will perform at the three-day Urban Music People (UMP) Festival to be held at Cape Maclear in Mangochi next month. The festival runs from October 25 to 28. The organisers Chitoliro Productionz confirmed the development yesterday saying fun lovers are in for a treat during the festival, which will bring on board several artistic disciplines such as music, film, poetry, fashion and theatre.
The festival’s director Ken Zizwa said they decided to engage the Nigerian artist to enrich the event which is taking place in Mangochi for the first time. “Having Magixx on board is a perfect alignment. Both UMP Festival and Magixx are on the rise, and this collaboration guarantees an explosive festival,” Zizwa said.
South African musician Deep London is also billed to perform at the festival. There are indications that the organisers will also add other artists from South Africa and Jamaica. Magixx is known for songs such as ‘All Over,’ ‘Love Don’t Cost a Dime,’ and “Shaye.
” Some of the local acts set to perform at the festival include Onesimus, Gibo Pearson, Temwah, Tuno, Mario Bros, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Black Missionaries, Theresa Phondo, and Sean Morgan..
