Nicole Kidman has put on a brave face at Paris Fashion Week as she stepped out in public for the first time since the death of her mother Janelle Kidman. Janelle died at age 84 after a long illness last month, prompting Nicole to abandon an appearance at the Venice Film Festival to promote her new movie Babygirl and return to Sydney. Nicole, 57, has since returned to Europe and appeared at the Balenciaga women’s spring 2025 fashion show on the last day of Paris Fashion Week on Monday.

The “Perfect Couple” star sat front row at the exclusive show and wore dark sunglasses throughout the event. Despite her partially obscured face, Kidman was still every inch the fashion icon in a black turtleneck body con dress with long sleeves that reached over her hands like gloves. Kidman accessorised the look with pointed black pumps and carried Balenciaga’s “rodeo” handbag, which is for sale on the brand’s Australian website for an eyewatering $6,500. The Oscar winner is an official brand ambassador for the French fashion house so her appearance at the presentation was likely a contractual obligation. It is understood that Nicole, her husband Keith Urban and their two daughters have spent time in Sydney with family following Janelle’s death.

Janelle, a former nurse, was the beloved matriarch of the Kidman family and survived a bout of breast cancer in the 1980s around .
