Strictly: Nicola Adams orders food during rehearsals Nicola Adams confessed that doing Strictly Come Dancing "would not have been possible" without boxing. The Olympian made history when she appeared on the BBC dance show in 2020 in its first-ever same-sex partnership. After being paired with Russian dancer Katya Jones, the couple then had to withdraw from the show after Jones tested positive for Covid -19.

At the time, a BBC statement read: “Katya is asymptomatic and the pair are now self-isolating separately following the latest government guidelines. As part of the protocols outlined ahead of the series, this sadly means they will no longer be able to take part in the competition.” In an interview with The Times , Nicola reflected on her brief stint on the show.

She confessed that being on Strictly would not have been possible without her career in boxing. She said: "It’s given me the confidence to push boundaries." Nicola won boxing gold for Team GB in London 2012 and repeated that four years later in Rio.
