Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have shared new spiritual ode ‘Long Dark Night’. The group will release new album ‘Wild God’ on August 30th, with sessions split between Miraval in Provence and Soundtree in London. In a note announcing the record, Nick Cave commented: “ Wild God.

..there’s no fucking around with this record.

When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you.

I love that about it .” New song ‘Long Dark Night’ is out now, and sonically it harks back to some of the country records Nick Cave heard growing up – don’t forget, his song ‘The Mercy Seat’ was once covered by the late, great Johnny Cash. Lyrically, it’s a spiritual tale of conversion and redemption, taking inspiration from Dark Night of the Soul by the Spanish 16th-century poet St.

John of the Cross. Nick Cave explains..

. ‘ Long Dark Night’ is inspired by one of the greatest and most powerful poems of conversion ever written. Ultimately, though, it’s a beautiful country tune.

It feels like a sweet companion to the song, ‘Wild God’. Tune in now. — Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will go back out on the road this Autumn – their first headline tour since 2017.

The tour encompasses 17 countries, and the UK run starts on November 2nd. Related: In Conversation – Nick Cave Photo Credit: Megan Cullen.
