Gaya: CBI sleuths arrested a deputy superintendent of police (DSP)-rank investigation officer (IO) of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Patna branch, and two others, said to be his agents, for accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky Yadav , son of former JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi. The arrest was made on Thursday evening. According to a press release issued by the NIA, “The CBI, in coordination with the NIA, laid a trap on Thursday against an IO of the agency.

The CBI had received a corruption complaint from Rocky Yadav, owner of Ramaiya Constructions Pvt Ltd, who had made charges against the IO, during the course of NIA’s investigation against him.” Rocky Yadav, in his complaint to CBI, had alleged that the IO was demanding the bribe to ‘manage’ the case after the September 19 search operation at different places in Gaya. “After verification of the inputs, and acting promptly in coordination with the agency, the CBI apprehended the accused IO, Ajay Pratap Singh, and his two agents while accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant,” the press release said.
