Hope House in Broxbrun - which has been the vision of Richie Roncero the founder of charity Steps To Hope - opened on Monday. It will house 10 addicts with the aim of helping them achieve sobriety and onto the road of recovery through education.

Hope House has been in development for 14 months with multiple staff members, supporters and businesses donating funds to make the residential alcohol and drug recovery home a reality. Richie, who himself is in recovery from drug addiction and has also experienced homelessness in the past, managed to raise £250,000 by sleeping rough for eight weeks in eight different cities across the UK. Steps To Hope was also supported by Balfour Beatty who donated and installed boilers worth a whopping £40,000 as well as built furniture for the home.

Various supporters contributed by organising their own fundraising challenges such as sleeping rough, shaving their heads, zip-lining and performing gruelling endurance tests. This has meant the service is available completely free of charge for all servi.
