Wednesday, August 14, 2024 A new study reveals Europe’s architectural beauty, with nine out of the top ten most stunning cities globally, proving the continent’s visual allure. A recent study conducted by the UK’s Online Mortgage Advisor reveals that European cities overwhelmingly dominate the ranking of the world’s most stunning urban areas, with nine out of the top ten positions occupied by destinations on the continent. The ranking is determined by the proportion of buildings that adhere to the “golden ratio,” a mathematical principle historically employed in architecture to create visually pleasing and balanced structures.

Venice Emerges as the World’s Most Beautiful City Venice, Italy, claimed the top spot in the study, with an astounding 83% of its buildings aligning with the golden ratio. The city’s picturesque canals and diverse architectural styles have always enchanted visitors, and this ranking adds a scientific endorsement to its visual charm. Rome, Italy, follows closely with 82% of its structures conforming to the golden ratio.

Rome’s blend of ancient and modern architecture earned it the title of the most beautiful European capital in the rankings. In third place is Barcelona, Spain, where the combination of Gothic and modernist architecture contributed to its high score. Iconic works by Antoni Gaudí, including the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell, are likely key contributors to the city’s ranking.
