Pune: The Metro train finally started halting at the Yerawada station on Wednesday, almost five months after the Vanaz-Ramwadi route became operational. Commuters , however, are still waiting for a feeder bus service to the Lohegaon airport and nearby areas. The Yerawada station was closed to commuters after local residents raised objections over its entry-exit points, claiming that it could lead to traffic chaos.

The Maha Metro and Pune civic body then redesigned the entry-exit points. The concourse level of the station is accessible from both sides of the road. At present, lifts and staircases are operational, and there is a plan to provide escalators.

On the first day of operations, vehicular traffic in the Yerawada station area largely remained smooth, although the stretch towards Gunjan Theatre Chowk witnessed waterlogging due to heavy spells of rain. Karve Road resident Sanket Joag, who works in the Yerawada area, said he would start taking the Metro to commute to his workplace soon. “The Metro authorities should approach the local commercial offices to start feeder services.

This will help commuters reach the station without hassles.” We also published the following articles recently Yerawada Metro station to open for commuters today The Yerawada Metro station on Pune's Vanaz-Ramwadi route opened to commuters on Wednesday, five months after services began on the stretch.
