Tuesday, October 1, 2024 The new Paris-Berlin high-speed rail link, launching this December, promises faster travel with daily services, offering a seamless connection between the two cities. SNCF Voyageurs and Deutsche Bahn, the national train operators of France and Germany, are set to introduce a new high-speed rail connection between Paris and Berlin. Starting on December 16, the daily service will be operated by Deutsche Bahn’s InterCity Express (ICE) trains, which are already in use between the two countries.

The ICE train, with 444 seats—111 of them in first class—can travel at speeds of up to 320 km/h on the French high-speed rail network. Departures from Paris Gare de l’Est are scheduled for 9:55, with stops in Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, and Frankfurt South before reaching Berlin Hbf at 18:03. Trains departing from Berlin will leave at 11:54, arriving in Paris at 19:55, making the total journey time approximately eight hours.

Ticket reservations will open on October 16, with prices starting at €59 for second class and €69 for first class. This new high-speed service expands the offering of 26 daily rail connections between France and Germany. Other key routes include Paris-Stuttgart/Munich, Paris-Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Marseille, and the seasonal summer service from Frankfurt to Bordeaux.
