Recently, the Ministry of Railways confirmed a successful test run with an Overhead Maintenance System (OMS) engine, highlighting the bridge’s strong construction and operational efficiency.
Significant Milestone Reached The Ministry of Railways announced in a recent tweet that the OMS engine reached remarkable speeds of 121 kmph on the Mandapam-Rameswaram route and 80 kmph over the bridge. This test underscored the bridge’s exceptional stability and accuracy, establishing it as a crucial connection for train services to Rameswaram and surrounding areas. The New Pamban Bridge, an upgraded successor to the historic 108-year-old Pamban Bridge, incorporates state-of-the-art features aimed at vastly improving access to the sacred town of Rameswaram.
