Transforming an old nursing home into luxury flats will help modernise a Nottinghamshire town, according to the project's developer. Real estate company Arnold Point Limited has submitted a plan to change the closed Ernehale Lodge care home on Furlong Street, Arnold , into 19 apartments. Wasim Shafiq, who is overseeing the project for the applicant, explained the firm hopes to transform the former home into luxury one and two-bedroom flats.

"The availability of apartments in Arnold is limited, restricting options for working professionals seeking independence while wishing to remain local," Mr Shafiq said. "We plan to introduce luxury apartments to enhance the choices available." The company had attempted to turn the 1980s building into a 29-bed house in multiple occupation last year, but this was rejected by local authority Gedling Borough Council as the number of people would "unduly impact" neighbours through "noise and disturbance".

"We will be enhancing the exterior of the building to make it more attractive and reduce its resemblance to a care home," Mr Shafiq added. "Our objective is to create a highly efficient and future-proof building for prospective residents.
