The Crown Inn is a four-hundred-year-old traditional Welsh country inn that closed its doors in 2020. It is located near the crossroads between the A525 and A5105 Chester/ Corwen road in Llandegla. The Crown was one of 16 pubs in and around Llandegla, which once catered for the drovers who stopped the night here while driving livestock from Wales to England.
Droving had died out by around 1870, replaced by railways and the pubs soon dried up. So, it’s really good to see the old place open its doors once again for the thirsty or hungry new type of drovers. The Crown is now a free house pub with the new owners having carried out a painstaking but tasteful major refurbishment both inside and outside of the pub.
