BLOOMINGTON — Plans that would allow for construction of 58 new single-family townhomes on the city's southwest side are headed to the Bloomington Planning Commission. The commission is set to consider the annexation and rezoning of a 6.5-acre tract near Fox Creek Road and St.
Ivans Circle that would facilitate the housing development, dubbed Ridgewood West in documents submitted to the city. The Bloomington City Council will make the final decision with consideration of the planning commission's recommendation, slated for a public hearing Wednesday. City documents say the request comes from property owner Aruthra LLC.
State records list its agent as Rajkumar Thirupparkadal of Bloomington, who could not immediately be reached for comment. A 6.5-acre site off Fox Creek Road is being targeted for a residential development.
Under the terms of the annexation agreement, the right to tap into the city's public water and sewer mains would be granted upon payment of applicable fees, which would amount to about $12,000 for water and $31,000 for sewer. The agreement would not obligate the city of Bloomington to extend public water or sanitary sewer since they run adjacent to the targeted site. All interior streets would be constructed and maintained as private roadways.
A sidewalk would be provided on at least one side of any of these streets. Although Tangle Oaks Court to the east was originally intended to run through the property once it was developed, topographic challenges would.
