The sweet sounds of The New Hoppers band will entertain show-goers this weekend when The Arts Council of Greater Palatka has its next Friday Nite Live Concert. “We are so excited about having this band coming to play and I know guests will not be disappointed with the great lively music they perform,” said Denise Aiken, executive director of the Arts Council of Greater Palatka. The concert will be from 7–9 p.

m. Friday at the Scarlett-Hill Theater inside the Larimer Arts Center, 216 Reid St. in Palatka.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 at the door.

Light refreshments will be served. Janine Rainville, a member of the band who plays the upright bass, said The New Hoppers play a blend of bluegrass intertwined with the old country sound as well as originals. Other band members include Mike Elias on guitar, Brian Lappin on banjo and Bob Parsons on the mandolin.

“We have been entertaining for many years across North Florida,” she said. Some of those places include festivals, private parties and restaurants among other places. Aiken hopes the public will come out and show their support for the performers.

“The band members have collaborated to create and give an enjoyable experience to those who come to the show to have fun and enjoy themselves while they play their toe-tapping music,” Aiken said. “We want everyone to come out and have a great evening with us.” The Arts Council is the state-designated local arts agency for Putnam County and is a 501(c)(3.
