New bus lanes could be put in place to reduce congestion. East Sussex County Council has put forward proposals for Eastbourne town centre in the hope of making bus services quicker and more reliable. The plans, which have been revised since an initial public consultation last year, are for a new bus lane to be installed eastbound between Windermere Crescent and Seaside Roundabout.

The proposals also include plans for a bus lane to be introduced westbound from Langney Roundabout to Seaside Roundabout. The council said there will be no changes to either of the roundabouts. "It’s important that any measures we put in place are successful and have the most positive effect on the area. "We have listened to feedback on our initial proposals and the concerns about the loss of parking resulting from the new bus lanes and have amended the plans to include space for more than 100 cars in Seaside and St Anthony’s Avenue. “I would encourage people to take the time to view the updated plans, attend one of the consultation events to find out more and give their view.

” The council said these changes could see bus journey times along Seaside and St Anthony’s Avenue in Eastbourne decrease by up t.
