Saturday, November 23, 2024 Sierra Leone, a stunning West African nation known for its pristine beaches, rich culture, and unspoiled landscapes, is set to welcome British tourists back in greater numbers. In an exciting development for the country’s tourism industry, Air Sierra Leone is launching direct flights from Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, to London Gatwick starting this December. This marks a significant moment in reconnecting the country with the UK after a hiatus in direct air services since 2016.

The direct flight route is expected to open up a wealth of opportunities for British travelers to rediscover Sierra Leone’s natural beauty. From its gorgeous beaches like Lumley Beach and Tokeh, to the dense forests and rich wildlife, Sierra Leone offers a unique blend of African charm that many tourists have yet to explore. The new flights are expected to bring a surge in tourism from the UK, and officials are hopeful this will spark a growing interest in Sierra Leone as a prime holiday destination.

Fatmata Mida Hamid Carew, General Manager of the Sierra Leone Tourism Board, commented on the new air route: “Sierra Leone has been peaceful for decades and is ready for tourism. It’s a new destination, and we offer genuine experiences without staging or pretence.” This unpolished authenticity is something that draws adventurous travelers looking for a true African experience.

Previously, Sierra Leone faced limited options for direct international flights. Br.
