It’s tradition. My husband, the Professor, gets a big desk calendar as a Christmas present. The day of the first week that appears on the calendar, we sit down together and start filling it in.
Then he hangs it on a door in the laundry room, and we continue to fill it in all year. The little calendar that fits in my purse comes in handy at doctor’s offices, and of course there’s the calendar on my phone that’s good for reminders. However, the laundry room calendar is our master calendar.
