A NEW bar has opened inside a lovingly restored building that is steeped in history. Six Knutsford welcomed their first customers on Friday, to Silk Mill Street. A family business has moved into the ground floor of the former Freemasons Inn.

The Grade II listed hostelry beside Knutsford Market Hall has six bespoke boutique bedrooms upstairs. Father and son Stephen and Jack Mitchell have opened Bar Six Sandbach in 2017 and Six Nantwich in 2021. The pair offer an eclectic drinks selection including premium gins, craft beers and fine red, white and rose wines, including fizz, rotated on a monthly basis.

Posting on social media, a spokesman for Six Knutsford said: “We will be serving the usual high quality drinks selection that you would expect to see at our other venues, with an ever-changing menu of craft beers, signature cocktails, small batch spirits and unique wines. “To accompany the drinks offering, we are super excited to launch the kitchen within Six Knutsford, Silk Mill Canteen. “We will be serving up a variety of delicious small plates food menu.

“We look forward to seeing you all join us at the bar in the coming weeks.” Kath and Jim Gibb invested £1 million to bring the rare Georgian building back to life through a complete renovation in 2022. The couple, who manage a property development business, used their expertise and conservation specialists to save the building which had fallen into disrepair.

With meticulous attention to detail, they blended heritag.
