Filmmaker James Cameron appeared on video at D23 Brazil today to promote the upcoming third “Avatar” film – “Avatar: Fire and Ash” – which opens just over a year from now. A bunch of new concept art from the film has been released and can be seen below including good looks at a new tribe for the film that are nomadic and travel through the air. The other represent the darker side of the Na’vi – a group “destroyed by volcanic eruptions, so they resent nature and everything the forest Na’vi preach.

” He confirms the project is currently in post-production. The new film will switch narrators from Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully to Britain Dalton’s Lo’ak. Oona Chaplin is also confirmed to be playing the Ash people’s leader Varang.

Speaking about reuniting the cast from the prior films, Cameron says: “We’re like a family. We’re in the third movie, it’s not about creating the characters anymore, it’s about bringing everyone together and seeing where the characters are going.” “Avatar: Fire and Ash” opens December 19th 2025.
