A second hotel project has been launched in Wrexham by two businessmen hoping to ride the city’s growing international profile. They have got the green light for a £1.3m apart-hotel in the city’s former registry office.

Building work will start later this month on converting the 18th Century listed building into 13 luxury apartments. Due to open in early 2025, Wrexham’s first apart-hotel will “cater for the discerning tourist market”. The venture was conceived by Dan Gillon and Steven Hesketh, who received planning consent from the county council in early August.

In a £250,000-plus investment, all 37 rooms will be refurbished and the owners hope to revitalise a 120-person function suite by working with sports clubs and offering off-site hospitality facilities for pre-match dinners.
