Wednesday, January 22, 2025 Starting May 1, Dave will assume the role of Managing Director for Network Rail ’s Southern region, succeeding Ellie Burrows. Ellie is set to transition to her new role as Managing Director of the company’s Eastern region. The Southern region, a critical part of the UK’s railway network, encompasses Devon in the west to Kent in the east, managing 544 stations and facilitating approximately 700 million passenger journeys annually.

Dave, currently the Director of Major Programmes at Siemens Mobility, brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career in the rail sector. His professional journey includes leadership roles at Osborne, Transport for London, and Serco Rail Operations, as well as senior positions at two train operating companies. Notably, Dave has previously collaborated with Network Rail, spearheading track-train integration projects in partnership with South West Trains, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the industry.

Ellie Burrows’ upcoming appointment to the Eastern region follows a series of strategic leadership changes within Network Rail’s Executive Team. She will be replacing Jake Kelly, who is transitioning to the role of Managing Director for the North West & Central region. Jake’s predecessor, Rob McIntosh, is set to become the independent chair of the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme board, further contributing to the development of GBR’s partnerships with mayoral authorities.
