Nesthy Petecio met Diana Zubiri! The Filipina boxer is now back in the country, and was able to take photos with the actress. Petecio recounted their meetup on Instagram, and the story amused many fans. “Grabe, ‘yung muntikan ko na siya matamaan kasi ang [likot-likot] ko eh," Nesthy wrote.
"Tapos pagharap ko si Sang’gre Danaya pala. Bigla ako natakot eh." “Pashnea [hayop] ka, Nesthy,” she added.
Diana’s fellow Sang’gre, Karylle, welcomed back Nesthy in the comments section. “Hahahahaha! Avisala sister!” Karylle said. Nesthy replied, “Avisala Sang’gre Alena” with hug emojis.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Petecio claimed the bronze medal after a match against Poland's Julia Szeremeta in the women's boxing 57kg semifinals. Petecio lost on points via split decision, 4-1. She was assured of the bronze medal after winning her bout against China's Zichun Xu in the quarterfinal round.
Petecio and her fellow Filipino Olympians were welcomed back home with a grand event at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. The athletes also went to Malacañang Palace for an awarding ceremony and reception dinner, where they were welcomed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
