Oct 18, 2024 at 7:00pm ~ Oct 18, 2024 at 10:00pm Every month, Nerd Nite Tokyo gathers smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique. This month, they’re in Sugamo with talks on the power of music and the potential of virtual reality. Plus, they have cafe food and craft beer on tap! Their first speaker is Yutaka Kikugawa , founder of El Sistema Japan: “Music is not only a source of joy and inspiration; it can also ignite intrinsic motivation and empower communities.
Our 12 years of experience, from post-tsunami reconstruction to inclusive education, demonstrate how music can spark diverse social actions and drive positive change.” Then, JAXA astrophysicist, science communicator, and Nerd Nite Tokyo’s favorite Elizabeth Tasker shows us how she and the global community “The Future of Meetings” are exploring the possibilities of virtual reality: You can design a lecture hall for sharing ideas, an exhibition space with demonstrations of full-scale animated models of scientific or engineering equipment, select landing sites for a space mission by standing on another planet, or cut that deal on a golf course in Captain Nemo’s submarine (complete with giant squid). Drinks (both alcoholic and non) as well as food will be available.
Check out the menu here and come early; they’re opening the doors at 7 PM. Drink, meet, and be square-y! Kids are also welcome at Nerd Nite. You can also find their event information on Facebook and Meetup ; chec.
