Neighbours' iconic couple Daphne Clarke and Des Clarke were part of the original crew way back in 1985. Daphne was a stripper who fell for Des in the very first episode of the soap and the two were part of the original 12 characters. She quickly gave up the life of stripping and swapped it for hospitality when she got the lease to the local coffee shop.

Des wasted no time in falling in love with the former stripper when she moved into his Ramsay Street home to help him pay off his mortgage but she was unavailable at the time. Over a year later, the two were inseparable as they got married. Their happiness didn't last long as Daphne died in a car accident in 1987.
