“Fall dresses up in gold; The richest season of the soul.” - Angie Weiland-Crosby All neighborhoods are beloved by the inhabitants as a sanctuary for their home, friends and family and the businesses and green spaces that surround their residences, making them special. Then there are neighborhoods that beckon us seasonally; and right now it’s the glorious, cool mountains along the northside hills of Hyde Park Road.
Most notable to all of us in October are the whispering, rustling, happy golden aspen trees in the fall. This morning, I was hiking along the Borrego Trail. The small plants were turning golden, and the aspens are just starting to show hints of gold.
In a few weeks our glorious Sangre de Cristo mountains will be a golden crown above this jewel of a city. In early October it’s Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque; in Santa Fe it’s time to drive up to the ski basin at the top of Hyde Park Road to see the colorful aspen trees. You can take a gentle stroll down the aptly named trail, Aspen Vista, hike one of the numerous other trails or go to the top of the mountain and ride the lift at Ski Santa Fe and take a forest bath among all those colorful trees.
But there’s plenty more to Hyde Park Road. SMARTEST NEIGHBOR The Santa Fe Institute is an independent nonprofit that seeks to understand the shared patterns in complex physical, biological, social, cultural, technological and even possible astrobiological worlds. Why? To use this understanding to promote the well-b.
