Pune: An NDRF team on Tuesday morning recovered the body of a Vedic school student, a day after he drowned in the Indrayani on Monday morning. The body of another student was recovered on Monday. One of his schoolmates died in a Pimpri hospital on Monday night, where he was admitted as he lost breath after rescuing two other students from the river .

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and Wanyajeev Rakshak, Maval team resumed searches early on Tuesday morning. The NDRF traced the body of Pranav Potdar (17) of Beed district and brought it out of the waters. "After post-mortem, it was handed over to his relatives," an officer from the Bhosari MIDC police said, adding that a case of accidental death had been registered.

Four students of the residential school had jumped into the Indrayani river at Tapkir Vasti in Moshi around 8.30am on Monday to save their schoolmate, who had accidentally fallen into the waters. About 55 students from the school had gone to the riverbanks to perform rituals on the occasion of Shravan Pournima.

Jay Dayma (19) of Nashik had rescued two other students, who had jumped into the river. But he lost his breath and started drowning. He was sent to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) in Pimpri, where he was declared dead by doctors.

The Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade and a team of Wanyajeev Rakshak, Maval recovered the body of Omkar Pathak (16), who hailed from Latur, later in the afternoon. But Potdar could not be traced on Monda.
