The Namosi Challenge is Fiji’s toughest race, but it could also be Fiji’s most beautiful race, says Suva Marathon Club president Beth Sargent. Speaking at the Namosi Challenge 2024 launch at Mana Coffee yesterday, Sargent said last year 300 runners joined the Namosi Challenge. “And this year, we are hoping to see 400 runners and walkers come out and join,” she said.

Sargent said this year’s challenge would include a half marathon (21km), an individual marathon (10km), and a team marathon, which would feature groups of four people running 10km each to make up a full marathon. “We’re excited for the opportunity for the running and it is also an opportunity for us to partner with the communities in Namosi,” she said. “This year, we’re excited to be partners with two really important Namosi-based organisations, the Namosi Secondary School and the Namosi Highlanders Rugby League Club.

” She said they were encouraging all runners to look for sponsors and gifts to support their efforts. “Those funds will be going to those important Namosi institutions.”.
