Thursday, October 3, 2024 Dubai resident Naila Kiani, a renowned Pakistani high-altitude mountaineer, has been awarded the inaugural National Tourism Award for Mountain Tourism by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and Discovery TV. This recognition celebrates her extraordinary contribution to promoting mountain tourism in Pakistan through her adventurous expeditions on some of the world’s highest peaks. Kiani has successfully scaled 11 of the 14 mountains above 8,000 metres and aims to complete the remaining summits by 2025.
Her dedication not only showcases the breathtaking beauty of Pakistan’s northern ranges but also highlights the vital role of high-altitude workers in these expeditions. “Promoting Pakistan’s mountain tourism has been my passion,” Kiani said. “This year, I proudly advocated for our high-altitude workers while tackling some of the world’s toughest climbs.
” Naila’s commitment to promoting Pakistan as a premier adventure tourism destination has garnered global attention, transforming the country’s tourism landscape. In recognition of her efforts, she also congratulated Dilawar Sadpara for winning the Best Mountain Guide Award, noting his exceptional contribution to the industry. She expressed heartfelt thanks to PTDC Chairman Aftab Rana for his support and extended gratitude to the jury for selecting her for this honour.
