A mother-of-two has expressed her "disgust" and "outrage" that her son's is letting the kids come in later after the Euro 2024 final. Her son's school sent an email stating that students could arrive at 10am on Monday (July 15), allowing them to stay up late to watch the England match on Sunday night. The match, which will see the compete against Spain for the trophy, kicks off at 8pm and could potentially last until 11 pm if it goes to penalties.

Liz, a 39-year-old from West Sussex, spoke about her shock that the school would authorise such a leave for a football game. She explained that while other in her son's year group seemed pleased with the change, she was left infuriated by the double standards of the education system. She stated: "The government and schools are preaching about low attendance in schools and children needing to catch up on lessons post COVID lockdowns, yet they are missing out on lessons on Monday for a football match.

"I am disgusted at this completely. Even if we did like football as a dual-working family we don't have the luxury to go to work late nor allow our son to go in late." Liz, who is a radiographer, and her husband, an engineer, can't let their son go to school late on Monday, even if he wanted to watch the football.

She vented: "It's an important lesson to learn. If you stay up late for something fun, you have to honour your responsibilities the next day. I don't go out late if I know I have work the next day.

It's something everyone has t.
