A BRIDE who found out her fiancé had cheated on her went ahead with the £35,000 wedding — without a groom. Lindsay Slater celebrated her freedom with around 70 family and friends. They enjoyed a three-course meal and had speeches and photos — with Lindsay in her £1,200 wedding gown — before a DJ party.

The solicitor, 31, even went on honeymoon to Crete with a pal. Suspicious Lindsay found out her partner of 12 years had been unfaithful less than a week before they were due to wed in Mansfield, Notts, this month. She said: “I was distraught — it was too late to go back on the wedding plans.

“Everyone was shocked, all that money had been spent. “But there was a big part of me who thought, ‘I’m free’. “I was surrounded by so much love, it really reminded me that I didn’t need him.

“I chose to spend the day with friends and family rather than sit at home crying.” Lindsay’s ex, 36, declined to comment but admitted he had been unfaithful..
