But for First Copy, lead actor Munawar Faruqui appeared on stage and while he was talking, Gulshan Grover, who also stars in the show, rose from the audience area. He had a mic in his hand and he responded to Munawar’s dialogues. He then joined Munawar on stage.The teaser of First Copy was unveiled and it led to laughs as Munawar Faruqui plays a man who pirates films for a living. The show is set in the year 1999 and in the announcement video, he’s seen making a copy of a film and on the CD, he writes ‘HDDCS (1999)’. HDDCS stands for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s musical Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam starring Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgn and which was released in 1999. One wonders if the makers would actually spell out the name of the film. They don’t do that but in the next shot, the poster of the film can be seen, though not clearly. Munawar’s dialogue, meanwhile, can be heard in the background where he informs viewers that back in 1999, one had to get a leaked version of the film from Dubai on Thursday so that it could be made available to people on Friday, the day when the film releases in India.Besides Munawar Faruqui and Gulshan Grover, First Copy also stars Krystle Dsouza, Aashi Singh, Raza Murad, Saquib Ayub, Inaamulhaq and Meiyang Chang.
