Sunday, August 18, 2024 Mumbai’s rail network braces for significant disruptions this Sunday as Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) undertake extensive maintenance operations to bolster infrastructure and safety. These critical enhancements will affect several vital routes and disrupt regular train services. Central Railway’s maintenance will concentrate on the 5th and 6th lines between Thane and Diva, an essential part of the mainline, scheduled from 10:50 AM to 3:20 PM.

This will lead to substantial service alterations, with multiple train delays or cancellations. Commuters using this route should prepare for extended travel times and potential interruptions. The Harbour line will also experience service disruptions.

Maintenance blocks will be imposed from 11:10 AM to 4:40 PM between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Chunabhatti and between CSMT and Bandra. To aid commuters, special trains will operate between Kurla and Panvel every 20 minutes. Passengers on the Harbour line are encouraged to explore alternative travel options, as mainline and Western Railway services will continue normally from 10 AM to 6 PM to alleviate some of the inconvenience.

Simultaneously, Western Railway will execute a five-hour maintenance block affecting the fast lines between Goregaon and Santacruz stations from 10 AM to 3 PM. During this period, all fast trains will be rerouted to the slow tracks between these stations, leading to slower travel times and further dela.
