Crowded platforms at Dadar station on Monday afternoon as CR services were affected by the snapping of OHE wires between Dombivli and Thakurli MUMBAI: Central Railway 's main line services were disrupted for two hours north of Kalyan on Monday afternoon after the overhead equipment wires between Dombivli and Thakurli stations snapped. As many as 54 trains were cancelled and more than 100 delayed after the snag developed around 2.35pm, resulting in overcrowding at Dadar, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Mulund, and Thane stations.
During the repairs, local trains were permitted to move through the affected stretch at a reduced speed of 15 kmph. A CR official stated, "We implemented a block on the Up and Down fast tracks between Diva and Kalyan to address the issue. Train services on the Up line were restored by 3.
35 pm and the Down line was cleared by 5.10 pm." The crowds grew impatient on platforms as trains were either cancelled or running late.
As Kasara-Karjat trains were halted for an hour, passengers on this route were forced to walk along the tracks to reach Thakurli and Kalyan stations. Dombivli Railway Police and RPF personnel assisted passengers in safely disembarking from the trains stuck on tracks. Passengers were also allowed to travel in a few long-distance trains which provided unscheduled stops at Thane, Kalyan, Karjat and Kasara.
Commuters slammed CR for poor maintenance of assets. Kalyan resident Rahul Gupta asked: "What is the point of having mega blocks if such inciden.
