Sunday, September 8, 2024 Mumbai residents are about to experience a major upgrade in their transportation options with the highly anticipated launch of Mumbai Metro 3, the state’s second underground metro line. Recently, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) took a key step forward by inviting the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to inspect and approve the metro trains. An additional inspection of the tracks between Aarey Colony and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) is scheduled for next week.
The first services along this route are expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. The initial phase of the Mumbai Metro 3, also known as the Aqua Line, will feature 10 stations covering a 12 km distance. Upon full completion, the corridor will stretch 33.
