A new mum has sparked a family feud over her baby name choice. The woman shared a post on Reddit describing the situation and asking for advice. The mum said her husband had a “traditional family name” they loved and ever since they started dating and discussing their future, they agreed that their son would have that name.

Tensions arose after her brother and sister-in-law found out the name she had chosen and used it, even though she had already told them beforehand that she would be using it. “My brother and his wife have as much right to name their child whatever they want. I do not own the name.

I have no right to dictate to my brother what he names his kid,” she explained. “However, neither my family nor my sister-in-law have any other connection to Ireland.” The woman’s sister-in-law became pregnant about the same time she did and her son was born two months after theirs.

“She got pregnant right around when I did, and her son was born two months before ours. They named him ‘Oisín Miguel’,” she said. “I didn’t get upset or anything,” she added.

“But she has flipped out that two cousins will have the same name. She is nuts because our family is Hispani.
