Pune: After deputy chief minister and senior BJP functionary Devendra Fadnavis visited former MLA Jagdish Mulik 's residence last week and quelled his anger over being denied a ticket from the Wadgaon Sheri assembly constituency, the latter has finally joined the official Mahayuti candidate from the seat to campaign ahead of the state election. Mahayuti's candidate, Sunil Tingre from NCP, began his campaign on Tuesday alongside his former rival Mulik. Interestingly, Tingre of the then-undivided NCP had defeated Mulik during the 2019 assembly poll from the same constituency.

On Tuesday, Mulik expressed confidence that the constituency would have two legislators in the form of Tingre as MLA and himself being promised a legislative council seat. "The constituency stands to benefit from Mahayuti govt. This will elevate development in the constituency.

" Meanwhile, Tingre urged workers "not to believe rumours spread by the opposition". He said, "The opposition is trying to set a false narrative, but workers should not pay attention to it. All the top brass and workers of the grand alliance have united and are working hard.
