The first case of Monkeypox has been detected outside of Africa, health authorities have confirmed. Sweden's Public Health Agency said in a press conference this afternoon that it has monitored a case of the more infectious variant of the disease - also known as mpox - inside its borders. Olivia Wigzell, the agency's Acting Director General, said the case of the new variant - named clade 1 - is the first to have been discovered outside of Africa.
