Prayagraj : Acknowledging that mounted police are more effective in crowd control situations, particularly in fairs and religious congregations because of their height advantage, the mela police will be deputing as many as 181 mounted police for better crowd management and control. The duties of mounted police will be assigned at all static points, particularly bathing ghats and connecting lanes, to regulate and control the flow of devotees arriving at the banks of the Ganga to take holy dips. Mounted police are police officers who patrol on horseback, and they are frequently used for ceremonial purposes.

Mela police have drafted a plan to assemble trained horses for the mega religious events from different police lines of the state, and mounted cops will also be imparted training in view of the topography of the area and the pattern of the crowd. As the mela area will be more extensive compared to the 2019 Kumbh, the number of mounted police will be increased as required. The mela police will also set up mounted police reserve lines on the mela campus ahead of the 2025 Kumbh.

SSP ( Kumbh Mela ) Rajesh Dwivedi told TOI that "With millions of devotees and visitors arriving at the mela campus from different parts of the country as well as abroad, police would be enhancing its surveillance at densely populated spots, particularly ghats and small lanes of the mela, through mounted police." "Mounted police are more effective in crowd control situations than police officers on foot.
