AMARI Mogan-Smith was once again the hero for Harriers on Saturday as his goal helped Harriers to a 1-1 draw at Spennymoor. Harriers has been in deep trouble at Brewery Field, behind at the break and going close to a two-goal disadvantage when the hosts hit the bar. Morgan-Smith struck his fifth goal of the season come the hour, though, a superb overhead kick levelling the scores before Harriers went the closest of the two teams to winning it.
The team news confirmed a first league start of the season for Jack Lambert after a brace of FA Cup starts and a goal against Buxton. Ashley Hemmings remained on the bench while Alex Penny was out with an injury. The two sides had a headed chance each in the first 20 minutes or so.
Joe Foulkes supplied Harry Ibbitson for the visitors who headed over, Corey McKeown doing similar for the Moors. Just before the half-hour, Lambert almost opened his league account for the term with a low effort from distance that Brad James saved well, before the hosts' opener came five prior the break. From a Harriers perspective it was frustratingly direct, a ball up-field flicked on and leaving Christian Dibble exposed as Isaac Fletcher finished confidently.
Harriers withstood more danger before the real and an even greater threat after it when, on 47 minutes, McKeown curled wide looking for Spennymoor's second. Five minutes later, Callum Ross went within inches of doubling that lead by heading a corner on to the bar, Caleb Richards then proving a pivotal.
