Kaduna Govt Urged To Liaise With Military To Flush Out Bandits LAGOS – More Nigerians have expressed anger over the recent rev­elation by Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, that his government has been negotiating with terrorists wreaking havoc in his state. Public commentators have described the governor’s action as disappointing and an exercise in futility. It would be recalled that Gov­ernor Sani, on Monday, January 27, 2025, revealed why his admin­istration opted for a peace deal with bandits unleashing terror in some parts of the state, saying it would bring peace in the area.

Kaduna had been under at­tacks by bandits who had been raining terror in communities such as Chikun, Kagarko, Giwa, Kajuru, and Birnin Gwari local government areas of the state, in addition to their attacks on other major highways. Since the tenure of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai, ban­dits and all sorts of criminal el­ements gave the people sleepless nights as they terrorised the peo­ple, especially in Southern Kadu­na, even as several educational institutions in the state were raided, with students abducted in large numbers. This was as negotiations by then Governor El-Rufai could not yield positive results.

Dr Victor Mathew, a securi­ty expert and cleric, who spoke to Sunday Independent, on the development, stated that nego­tiating with non-state actors at any level is an admission of defeat, powerlessnes.
