Returning to the spotlight this Wednesday, Miranda Hart opened up for the first time about her ordeal with Lyme disease before revealing she was married. The actress, known for her self-titled show Miranda, was back on BBC One this Tuesday as she was grilled over her most recent book - I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You - by The One Show 's Alex Jones and Alex Scott . This led Miranda to open up about her struggle with Lyme disease, as she documents it in her latest work, as she revealed she'd been diagnosed with the condition during her time away from the limelight.

"It's not been the most pleasant few years, I've mainly been in bed, in bed or housebound with a chronic illness. It's been a tough few years", she shared, before telling both presenters she was "excited" to be back on the box. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection which can spread to humans through a tick bite.

Symptoms of the condition include a rash, flu-like symptoms such as chills, fever, or fatigue, as well as other symptoms in the likes of facial paralysis, nerve pains and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet. Miranda continued: "Because once you’ve been bed and housebound with a fatigue-based chronic illness that takes a long time to be diagnosed - which sadly I know a lot of people will know - you miss life a lot. So I’m thrilled to be sitting here", as she insisted on the fact her Lyme disease made her "miss life a lot.

" But moments after talking about her struggle, Miranda dropped another.
