Pune: The National Conference for Minority and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind on Thursday urged MVA to allocate 15 per cent tickets for members from Muslim and other minority communities . During a joint press conference, the delegation also pressed the MVA to field former chairman of the standing committee Rashid Shaikh as their candidate for the Hadapsar assembly constituency. Rahul Dambale, president of National Conference for Minority, said, "We supported the INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha election because we wanted to support the secular forces.

There has so far been no announcement from the MVA. Ajit Pawar has already announced 10% seats for the minorities. Hence we are demanding 15% of the MVA tickets for minorities.

" Mufti Shahid, city president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, emphasised on the importance of minority representation. "Hadapsar has 6 lakh voters, out of which 2 lakh belong to minority communities. Someone from the minority community must be given a chance to represent our demands in the assembly," he said.
