Jaipur: A minor was detained and two others arrested from Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh after fleeing with cash and jewellery worth over Rs 1.42 crore from a wedding function at a luxury hotel in Jaipur last week. The boy allegedly stole a bag containing valuable items during the wedding and managed to escape.

Police said he is a native of Rajgarh district and returned to Rajgarh after the heist. SP (Rajgarh) Aditya Mishra said that a minor has been detained and two other accused have been arrested in the matter. After the theft, he and one other accused took a train to Rajgarh.

To avoid suspicion, they joined the Kanwar Yatra, posing as pilgrims. Based on CCTV footage from the hotel, Madhya Pradesh police identified the suspects. Mishra said that most of the stolen jewellery has been recovered.

Police received information that the suspects had come to Madhya Pradesh. Upon the minor's arrival, police conducted a raid and detained him. Police recovered the stolen jewellery bag from the minor, however, Rs 1 lakh, which was inside the bag, is still missing.

During questioning, it was revealed that after committing the theft, the accused hid the jewellery bag before joining the Kanwar Yatra to avoid detection. The minor was detained upon returning from the pilgrimage. The entire incident was captured on the hotel’s CCTV footage, showing the juvenile and his possible accomplice committing the theft.

According to the complaint, the boy had discreetly sneaked into the wedding.
