WORTHINGTON – The Minnesota West Community and Technical College football team poured it on throughout their game with Minnesota North College-Vermilion, overcoming two early turnovers to win in blowout fashion. Two days later, the Bluejays defeated Dordt University’s JV squad in Sioux Center, Iowa 35-19 to finish the regular season undefeated at 7-0. ADVERTISEMENT Minnesota West scored 66 points against Vermilion CC, their highest point total this season that beated the 58 points they scored in their last home contest against Central Lakes College-Brainerd two weeks ago.

After an early turnover from the Bluejays, it was actually the Ironhawks who got on the board first on a touchdown pass from DaVaunte Lane to Dwayne Jacobs. After that it was all Minnesota West. The first three drives of the game all ended in turnovers, but the Bluejays responded in a big way with 26 points in the first quarter, followed by another 20 points in the second quarter to take a big 46-7 halftime lead.

A third quarter that was shortened to 10 minutes saw Minnesota West score another 20 points before Vermilion CC opted to end the game shortly after. There was only one minute put on the clock for the fourth quarter as the Ironhawks just took a couple of knees to end the game. The Bluejays again totaled more than 400 yards of offense, accomplishing the benchmark for the third-consecutive game.

The nation’s top-ranked rushing attack in yards per game was at it again, totaling another 268 yards o.
