As Nigerians continue to grapple with the effects of economic hardship, new revelations have surfaced regarding extravagant spending in the Federal Ministry of Sports Development and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Reports show that top officials, including the Minister of Sports, John Enoh and the NFF president, Ibrahim Gusau, have been linked to the acquisition of luxury vehicles worth millions of naira. According to documents obtained by our correspondent, the minister recently approved a payment of N142.

7 million for the purchase of a brandnew Toyota Prado LC300 3.5L Twin Turbo Auto leather seat. The payment, dated July 8, 2024, was made to QLS Global Services Limited, the company responsible for supplying the vehicle.

The deal was finalised with an additional payment of N7,137,137.36 to the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) being a 5% tax on the vehicle purchase. Similarly, the president of the NFF has also benefited from the largesse.

On May 21, 2024, the NFF splurged N87.3 million on an official vehicle for the federation’s president. The funds were paid to Mujaf Automobile Nigeria Ltd.
