The search for Cambridge-educated technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah continues after a luxury yacht sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday morning (August 19). The pair are amongst six tourists who are currently missing. The British-flagged superyacht, named Bayesian, capsized at about 5am local time off the coast of Palermo when the area was hit by a tornado.

It was carrying 10 crew members and 12 passengers. Fifteen people, including Mr Lynch's wife Angela Bacares, were rescued. One body, which is said to belong to the ship’s chef, was recovered.

Italian emergency services are reportedly on the scene to continue the search for the missing passengers. Read more: Who is Mike Lynch? He was born in Ilford, Essex , in 1965 and grew up near Chelmsford, according to an alumni website for Christ's College, University of Cambridge .

After his PhD, he undertook a research fellowship in adaptive pattern recognition. According to Christ's College: "He is a Lady Margaret Beaufort Fellow of Christ’s College and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering."
