Mickey Guyton and Jason Isbell helped kick off night one of the 2024 Democratic National Convention Monday, Aug. 19. The musicians provided the night’s entertainment amidst the usual flurry of speeches.

Guyton performed her 2021 song “All American,” and Isbell played “Something More Than Free,” his 2015 album’s title track. James Taylor was scheduled to close out the night with a rendition of “You’ve Got A Friend,” but his performance was reportedly cut to accommodate President Joe Biden’s speech after applause for speakers throughout the night led to a time crunch.
