Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has reportedly been seen by people outside his extremely strict inner-circle for the first time since the fateful ski accident that almost took his life in 2013. According to a number of European reports, Schumacher attended the ceremony of his daughter Gina’s wedding to Iain Bethke at the weekend in Mallorca. The nuptials took place at the family’s luxury villa on the Spanish island, which wife Corrina and the family purchased from Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez in 2017.

Schumacher spends most of his time at the family home near Lake Geneva in Switzerland, but is regularly moved to and from the Mallorca property. The Spanish house has been partly converted into a medical sanctuary that can provide hospital-level care around the clock for the seven-time F1 world champion. His exact condition is unknown, at the will of Corrina, who has kept it notoriously and meticulously private since the accident in the French Alps 11 years ago.

Only an extremely small group of people are allowed to see him and fully understand his medical plight. Not everyone who was in attendance at the wedding is in that exclusive group of people. To protect Schumacher’s privacy, it’s understood guests had their phones confiscated at the door to avoid any footage or photos being taken of him at the wedding, and security was hired to further protect him from the possibility of attention from outside the wedding.
